Addiction Results from Problems, Not Choices

Woman with a drug problem

It’s an attempt to solve a problem and that problem is rooted in past bad experiences.

People with addiction issues are trying to desperately escape emotional distress, isolation, disconnection, and pain.

If this is true, then the primary issue is not addiction. The primary issues are the past bad experiences that induce the state of mind from which the person needs to escape.

People turn to drugs because they have an unresolvable problem in their life that is either emotional or physical.

When they take drugs, alcohol, or medications, it gives them temporary relief or release from those problems, or it might even temporarily resolve the problem for them.

The bigger the problem it resolves, the higher the value the individual places on that substance and addiction then starts to set in.

Throw in peer pressure, social acceptance, losses in life, with the addiction issue, and you are only left with three options:

Sobriety, jail or death.

Right now, if you are reading this and it rings true to you, and you know someone who is struggling, they are angry, they’re scared, they are abusing substances, they don’t know what to do.

They know they want to be happy, and they want to live a better life, but they don’t know how to do it, and they are just disguising it and living this half versioned life of themselves, and you want to give them real help please contact our team at Narconon Ojai.
