Help for Painkiller Addiction

Man and pills

No one wants to be an addict. When a person starts out with a prescription for painkillers after an injury or surgery, they don’t plan on being hooked from there on out. How does it happen that millions have been addicted or abused these drugs at some time in their life?

The problem is that opiate pain medication—whether it’s Oxycontin or other opioids—are highly addictive. It doesn’t take long to build up a tolerance and become addicted. Add in that recent years there’s been over prescribing by doctors , it’s easy to see how it can spiral out of control.

Getting off Pain Pills

If you’ve found yourself addicted pain meds, the sooner you get off them the better. As tolerance builds up, a person requires more of the drug to achieve the same effect, and the more you are take the harder the withdrawal is going to be.

There is a way out. One that doesn’t require going cold turkey and the accompanying agony of withdrawal. Nor does it require taking substitute drugs, which often lead to a whole new addiction of their own.

The Narconon program is a drug-free rehabilitation program that does not use substitute drugs as treatment for addiction. We’ve found that most people don’t want to replace one addiction for another, and there is no reason to. While an initial medically supervised wean down or detox may be required, it is possible to completely come off drugs and leave addiction behind.

The program begins with a drug-free withdrawal using nutritional supplements and simple exercises that help alleviate the pain and discomfort of withdrawal.

Narconon New Life Detox Sauna

Next is the New Life Detoxification program which flushes out drug residues that remain lodged in the fatty tissues of the body. It is these residues that can cloud thinking and trigger cravings, even years after drug use stops. This one step is exclusive to Narconon and is not found in any other drug rehabilitation program.

The final phase includes several life skills courses which enable a person to better handle life’s ups and downs, restore their integrity and improve their relationships. These skills enable a person to then create a sober and fulfilling life.

If you or someone you know is addicted to painkillers, find out how the Narconon program may be the answer to ending the addiction once and for all. Give us a call at 1-866-292-4503.
